ABOUT THE BOY
I’ve photographed Beau more than once in his life and he only gets better at it as time goes by and I look forward to seeing him on a bigger platform - magazine? billboards maybe?
The first time I heard about senior photography, I honestly thought that were talking about… well, senior citizens! I dont know how big the marekt in LA is for senior photos - but I was lucky enough to have fun this year with a few high school graduating kids - and when I say FUN, I mean it - they were all sweet, funny, polite, smart - and - followed directions. EASILY and willingly… might be my favorite new age group!
One of my first ever sessions were in 2009 and I found this fallen tree - almost 15 years later, of course it’s still there; and it was cool to see how someone else approaches it.
In her own words Tessa describes herself as a 16 year old singer/songwriter. I've always loved singing, but I didn't start writing songs until I was 10 years old. Writing songs helps me to process my emotions. I'm so excited to share my debut single "no closure" with you.
You can listen to a preview of the song here , or check out her site www.tessaphillips.com and of course find her on spotify , but most importantly, remember her because I have no doubt she’s going places and we can alwasy say we knew her way back when…
Winston was a designer dog, not because he’s a pug but becasue he’s mom is an interior designer and loves and appreciates good design, so Winston would tag along at work, amongst beautiful pieces of furniture that were more that beautiful pieces of furniture - they were art.
Even models need to eat - and in the background? Eames Molded Fiberglass Armchair

I love seeing people’s homes - I love photographing people INSIDE their homes: and yes I have lights, studio lights, and now they are battery operated so its easy to set up and move around and they dont make noise and they’re not hot and you dont need to turn the lights on, I got it…..and what a lovely home this was (The yard was just as beautiful so that will be part 3, yes, it 3 sessions in one) so If we had all day (I did but nobody wants to pose to the camera all day) I would have done a whole day indoors in every corner of the place, but we picked just a few….
When I saw this wall art I knew I had to use it even though it was a tight space, I got a ehole series showing here just three
I couldnt choose just one, the collage tells a whole story
When at the end of a family session they ask you “could we do some photos with a horse?” one might try to stay cool and not be like all YESSSS PLEASE, but not me, I was unable to hide my excitement and still can’t, and even though it was getting dark - my then new Canon EOS R5 that handled the low light situation like a champ and if it hadn’t we like to say “I love the grain” which in the black and white photo does lend to its painterly look… I will post the other two part of this session in a few days, but in the meantime, ride with us!
I was thinking what I would like to photograph more of in 2024, and remembered that back in February, I actually did the exact session I want to do more of this year - SitOnIt Seating - is a manufacturer right here in California, and I photographed their showroom (they will soon a have a new one) and their Los Angeles sales team - It was a gloomy rainy day that was perfect for including the outdoor ambiance though the windows, but we definitely got wet on the way to lunch downtown (not pictured here…) I love design spaces, and I love photographing people in their space, and creating a headshot that showcases some personality and some of what they sell… in this case… chairs!
